Why We Fundraise
The Sherwood Band program has grown exponentially over the last decade, both in numbers of participating students, and in the quality of the program and the education the students receive. The Booster Board focuses on a few large fundraisers to reduce the time commitment needed from our parent volunteers.
Fundraising - All Year Long
BottleDrop Blue Bags: We encourage people to pick up blue bags throughout the year, fill them at home with your empty cans and bottles and drop off at one of several locations in the area.
FRED MEYER COMMUNITY REWARDS: If you shop at Fred Meyer, please connect your Rewards Card to #JF541 or Sherwood High School Band Booster Club. Every time you shop, the band program will benefit!
EMPLOYEE MATCH: Many employers match, or even DOUBLE, charitable contributions made by their employees. Other employers give credit or donations for volunteer hours. Please check with your employer to see if they participate in either of these opportunities.
Fundraising - Events
BAND DAY (September): Groups of students perform throughout the Sherwood community to raise money on one Saturday in the Fall. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of year and is also a great way to connect with our community. All high school band students are required to participate. Parents are needed to chaperone and transport students.
MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND BINGO (November): Each November, the Sherwood band directors host a fun evening of Band Bingo! There are great prizes for bingo winners, food for sale and a "half-time" performance by Sherwood bands musicians. Come join the fun! Details will be provided during the school year.
SWINGIN' THE GREEN (May): This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Students in the middle and high school Jazz Bands play throughout the evening while guests enjoy a plated dinner, auction and activities.
RESTAURANT NIGHT OUT (all year): Throughout the year, you will receive emails and flyers letting you know about local restaurants that have agreed to share a portion of a day's proceeds with the Band Boosters. Please come out and join other band families to enjoy these events! Past sponsors include McMenamins, Chipotle, Subway, Panda Express and Spaghetti Factory.
