School Districts nationwide have pulled funding for instrument replacement, repair, sheet music, competition entry fees, costumes, or supplies. This is where the Band Boosters come in!  The Sherwood
High School Band Booster Club fundraises for all of the above to keep the wheels in motion daily for the kids in Sherwood Band Programs. While the boosters' efforts are outstanding, there aren’t funds left over to replace much-needed instruments that are 30+ years old. Between Sherwood Middle and High school, the band programs impact more than 300 students each year, across eight bands and ensembles.

Many of the students involved in the programs find their home and tribe in the band family, and when they get to the night of their Senior speech, they often say that band saved their life and gave them a
place where they belonged. These students are learning advanced musicianship, have an unmatched work ethic, and are known as leaders in their schools and community. Sherwood is also proud to have a high percentage of students go on to major in Music in College.

A permanent donor wall will be built and placed in a prominent location at Sherwood High School for all visitors to see over the coming decades. Donors are invited to contribute at various levels. The donation levels will be differentiated by color, shape, and size, giving the highest visibility to the highest donors.

  1. The band is home to many kids who don’t feel accepted elsewhere.
  2. In a world of instant gratification, band teaches students the value of work ethic dedication, and perseverance.
  3. Students learn skills needed in today’s workplace: discipline, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, and compromise.
  4. Band balances education. It incorporates science, math, and physical activity.
  5. Band teaches students how to respectfully work together towards a goal that is bigger than themselves.
  6. If we don’t replace these instruments, our band program will eventually wither, giving these students no place to learn the above skills.
